Wilkins never let Phoenix get something going. The Austin right-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Rangers to a win. Júlio Rodríguez closed the door for Austin, picking up his 3rd save of the year. Losses have been few and far between for the Hotspur, who are now 9-2.

Carlos Kramer provided some late-game drama. In the bottom of the eighth, with two out and a runner on 2nd, Kramer hit a run-scoring single. It helped Austin take the lead and grab the win.

"The old adage is true," said Wilkins. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
