"Getting ahead of the hitters is the key," said Torres.

In a tight game between the Austin Rangers and the Houston 1837 BBC, pitcher Ernest Torres was terrific on the mound. The Austin left-hander was named the player of the game in Austin's 3-0 win. Austin is now 52-51, Houston 51-52.

The 1837 BBC had little chance against Torres, who overpowered Houston hitters and struck out 11.

Torres called the triumph "a good team win."
