Lewis has 4 hit night as Cattlemen Squeeze Past New Amsterdam
|
Bart Lewis was the difference-maker for the Ft. Worth Cattlemen in what turned into a shootout with the New Amsterdam Republics. Lewis earned the player of the game award after going 4-for-4 in the 11-9 Cattlemen win. Juan Sánchez got credit for the win, improving to 3-2. He allowed no runs on no hits in 0.1 innings. The 7th-place Republics have lost 4 consecutive games.
In the bottom of the 8th, designated hitter Júlio Maldonado gave Ft. Worth the lead when he hit a grand slam home run. The Cattlemen had been trailing 8-7, but the two-out home run off New Amsterdam pitcher Frenk Norman changed that -- and Ft. Worth went on to win.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Maldonado told the Ft. Worth Today.
