Middies Raise Rally Flag, Beat Austin, 7-4
|
The Grafton Middies defeated the Austin Rangers, 7-4, in Silver League action at Field of the Middies, with Grafton right fielder Dave Ash named player of the game. The win was credited to Truman Valentine in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Weston Fisher took the loss. The Middies go to 47-47, putting them 5th in the Division II.
Grafton grabbed control in the bottom of the eighth. With two out and a runner on 2nd, Jarred Morgan delivered a run-scoring double, to make it 5-4 in favor of the Middies.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling pretty confident after that win," said Morgan.
