Silver League #1 Rookie Named Sunday, October 27th, 2024 For several weeks the rumor mill had it that the 2024 Newcomer of the Year Award winner was a foregone conclusion and the trophy would go to Detroit catcher, Gustavo Cortéz. It is no longer a rumor -- the Silver League made it official today. Cortéz won the award by hitting .261 and collecting 74 hits, 11 home runs, 43 RBIs and 30 walks. He scored 38 runs and posted a .344 on-base percentage. Joram Nelen of the Louisville BC finished second in voting, while Víctor García of the Toledo Titans finished third. |
