Piranhas Hitter Captures Triple Crown Wednesday, October 13th, 2021 Piranhas right fielder Melvin Castro will look back on 2021 as a magical season after eclipsing his peers in the three major batting categories -- batting average, home runs and RBIs. He batted .336 with 29 home runs and 92 RBIs to pick up the 2nd Triple Crown in 3L play. "It's been an incredible year," said a smiling Castro, "I really can't explain how this happened. A lot of things have to go your way to accomplish something like this. You have to stay healthy and you have to stay away from long slumps." The Panama City skipper told reporters at the press conference, "There were days when Melvin played hurt. It really is amazing the things he has done this year." The latest Triple Crown winner added, "I'm thankful to Piranhas fans and to my teammates for their encouragement. It was a joy to come to the ballpark every day." |
