Hitting Streak Still Alive for Alvia
Tuesday, August 15th, 2017
And the hits just keep on coming -- especially off the red-hot bat of José Alvia. The Dodos left fielder got 2 hits in 4 at-bats in today's 6-5 triumph over the Rappahannock Partisans at Dodos Ballpark. Alvia has now hit safely in his last 20 games.
Asked by the press, how it feels to go through something like this, he replied, "the longer it goes on, the more the pressure intensifies. The press coverage can get relentless at times. I wish I could just go out and play the game without all this distraction, but I know that's not going to happen. I know I will just have to grin and bear it." José Alvia singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, walked in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This year Alvia is hitting .369, produced 89 RBIs and 30 home runs, scored 65 times and gotten on base at a .445 rate.
