Alvia 5-5 for Dodos Friday, August 11th, 2017 José Alvia exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Hustlers Stadium. The Hialeah left fielder had a field day in the 16-1 triumph over the Balboa Buccaneers, finishing with a 5-5 day and a spot in the league record book. "My hitting philosophy is pretty simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch." Well, Alvia must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of his best days ever with the bat. José Alvia hit a two-run home run off Bill Swain in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Bill Swain in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Bill Gentry in the 4th, singled in the 5th, walked in a run in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th. Presently Alvia is batting .368 and has collected 28 home runs, 85 RBIs, .436 OBP and scored 58 runs. |
