Alvia Hits 3 Homers Against Balboa
Friday, August 11th, 2017
José Alvia of the Hialeah Dodos had a lot to celebrate in today's 16-1 win over the Balboa Buccaneers. Three times he celebrated by pounding the ball out of Hustlers Stadium.

He kiddingly told reporters after the game, "Hopefully, I can continue to close my eyes and swing as hard as I can. It worked well today."

The powerful Hialeah left fielder tagged 5 hits in 5 at-bats, drove in 8 runs and scored 3 times in his three-homer outburst.

Alvia added, "Seriously, I just try to swing early and often to give myself a chance. I let the pitcher supply all the power, I just try to figure out how to get the bat on the ball."

"We talked about changing our strategy for the third one ... and then he hit another homer," the Balboa manager said. "We just couldn't get him out."

José Alvia hit a two-run home run off Bill Swain in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Bill Swain in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Bill Gentry in the 4th, singled in the 5th, walked in a run in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.

So far this year Alvia has 28 home runs and a .368 batting average.
