Belugas Stop Mata at 28
Thursday, July 13th, 2017
Lady Luck was not on the side of José Mata or his teammates today at Belugas Ballpark. Everything went the Brinkley Belugas way. They not only came away with a 7-4 victory, but also held Mata hitless in 2 at-bats to put an end to the center fielder's 28-game hitting streak.
"It was a good run," Mata said afterward. "But it'd be much easier to take right now if we had won."
For the season Mata has produced 48 hits in 118 at-bats for a .407 average with 12 home runs and gotten on base at a .466 clip.
