Meléndez Is 3L's Best Rookie Tuesday, October 10th, 2017 The Third League has presented its Newcomer of the Year Award for 2017 and the honor went to José Meléndez, the fine Norfolk center fielder. The 24-year-old Cruisers newcomer took the trophy by hitting .311 in 109 games and finished with 123 hits, 7 home runs, 43 RBIs and 72 runs scored.Herman Hayes of the Toledo Titans finished second in voting, while Matthew Watts of the Oakland Oaks finished third. |
