Atlanta-Thunder Bay Swap: for Hines

$1 in cash will now be playing for the Thunder Bay Lumberjacks and 19-year-old starting pitcher Todd Hines will be suiting up for the Atlanta Smoke. The trade was announced today at a press conference by club officials.
Meléndez Is 3L's Best Rookie

The Third League has presented its Newcomer of the Year Award for 2017 and the honor went to José Meléndez, the fine Norfolk center fielder.

The 24-year-old Cruisers newcomer took the trophy by hitting .311 in 109 games and finished with 123 hits, 7 home runs, 43 RBIs and 72 runs scored.Herman Hayes of the Toledo Titans finished second in voting, while Matthew Watts of the Oakland Oaks finished third.

The Glove Wizard Award winners don't get the recognition of the home run hitters, but they are very much appreciated by managers, their teammates and by the fans, who know the value of defensive excellence.
