Hit Parade: van Kooten Gets Cycle Sunday, August 27th, 2017 The big buzz in the baseball world is about Sinclair van Kooten's performance today at Buckhead Grounds against Philadephia 1776. van Kooten had 4 hits en route to hitting for the cycle, leading the charge for the Buckhead 14-9 triumph over the BC. A cycle requires each of the four types of hits possible -- single, double, triple and home run. A batter has to have power, speed, and a little luck to do it. "It was one of those games you dream about," van Kooten told the press. "I never expected to do something like this when I showed up at the park today. All you really want to do is hit it hard and put it into play. The hits will come." And the hits did come today. The 27-year-old right fielder rounded out his superb batting display with 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 5 runs batted in, and 2 runs scored. Sinclair van Kooten grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off Tom Melton in the 3rd, hit a two-run triple in the 5th, walked in the 6th and doubled in the 8th. van Kooten is batting .315 this season in 85 games with 16 home runs, 65 RBIs and 76 runs scored. He has 114 hits in 362 at-bats. |
