| Hawkins Fashions Shutout Against Prairie Dogs Wednesday, September 19th, 2029 It wasn't easy but the Watertown Headhunters made it look that way.
Starter Lou Hawkins shut out the Pueblo Prairie Dogs despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Watertown Headhunters cruised to victory, 7-0. Hawkins allowed only 2 hits and rang up 11 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
This year Hawkins has made 7 starts, thrown 52 innings, fanned 54 batters and walked 17. His won-lost record is 2-4 with a 2.77 ERA.
