| Hawkins Fashions Shutout Against Prairie Dogs | It wasn't easy but the Watertown Headhunters made it look that way.
Starter Lou Hawkins shut out the Pueblo Prairie Dogs despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Watertown Headhunters cruised to victory, 7-0. Hawkins allowed only 2 hits and rang up 11 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
This year Hawkins has made 7 starts, thrown 52 innings, fanned 54 batters and walked 17. His won-lost record is 2-4 with a 2.77 ERA. |
