| Beavers Come Up Short at Vista | The Vista Panthers and Baffin Island Beavers played an exciting game at Stone Brewery Stadium.
The Vista Panthers defeated the Baffin Island Beavers, 4-3, at Stone Brewery Stadium today. Leading the charge for Vista was left fielder Phil Matthews. He went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. David Simpson was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 23 of 27 save opportunities.
Matthews contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Vista in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-1, Matthews took a fastball from Roberto Barrón and stroked the home run to right. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Panthers to leap in front, 4-3.
Matthews called the win "a collective effort."
With the win, the Panthers have a record of 46-56.
