Beavers Vargas Silences New York Friday, September 22nd, 2028 Luis Vargas hurled a fine game for the Baffin Island Beavers at Beaver Dam today, holding the New York Knights to 4 hits in a shutout win. "When he started out, his command wasn't that good, but he's a tough guy," Baffin Island manager Chris Black said. "The more pitches he throws, the better his command is." The right-hander had 8 strikeouts and 2 walks in the 5-0 victory. "An outstanding job," New York manager Joe MacVean said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game." So far this season Vargas has no saves in no relief appearances with a 14-9 record and 3.30 ERA.
