Bruins Mow Down Marshals, 9-2
|
Riding the 3-hit performance of the three-time All-Star Jesús Campos, the So Cal Bruins stopped the Houston Marshals, 9-2. Alejandro Méndez got the win, improving to 8-2. He held the Marshals to 2 earned runs on 6 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 9 and walking 2. Jim Sheppard, credited with the save, is now 1 for 3 in save opportunities.
In the bottom of the first, Earl Wiggins took a fastball from José Hidalgo and pounded a 3-run home run to left. It put So Cal on top, 3-0. For the game, Wiggins was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once.
"I thought we played a nice game," Campos told the So Cal Today. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
With the win, the Bruins improved to 36-28.
