|
Ron Young was superb against Nashville. The right-hander, who is tied for 7th in the CL with a 9.0 K/9 rate, had a fastball that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a 6-1 Kings victory. Young, the winner, moves to 5-3. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up 3 walks. The Kings are now 34-27, while the G-Strings fall to 16-41.
Toshimichi Kono went 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs for Kansas City. The two-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring single off Bennie Jones. It was his 87th hit of the season.
"Good win for us," said Young. "We'll lace up our cleats and go after the next one."
