Tropics Snatch Late Win
|
The Maui Tropics racked up a win at Rainbow Stadium, bumping off the San Francisco Bandits, 6-2. Ronald Cotton, who started for Maui, pitched effectively for his team. Maui, now 18-37, holds last place in the National League Western Division.
Late in the game, designated hitter José Herrera had a big at-bat for Maui. In the bottom of the eighth, he hit a run-scoring single off Mal Park. The play gave the Tropics a 3-2 lead.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Cotton. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
