Hill belts 2 home runs to Pull Browns to .500
|
The 2028 season is getting ugly for Chicago.
The bats were silent much of the day at Old Comiskey Park. But Mike Hill conjured up just enough offense to carry the Browns past the Chicago Machine, 3-0. Hill was 3-3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. Bernardo Miranda, the winner, improved to 4-2. He held the Machine to no earned runs on 6 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 1. António López recorded his 17th save for St. Louis.
Hill provided the big break for the Browns in the top of the fifth inning. With the bases empty, he hit a solo home run, helping St. Louis to get the win.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" St. Louis manager Jeff Porter said.
St. Louis is third in the Continental League Eastern Division with a record of 25-25.
