Deleón Excels in New Orleans Win
|
The New Orleans Looters stymied the Beech Mountain Mountaineers, 5-2, at Park Top. Oliver Deleón, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for New Orleans. Gennarino Lucchetti picked up the win, improving his season record to 5-4. He struck out 4 in 7 innings. Juan Méndez recorded the save for New Orleans, his 12th of the season.
Arturo Sánchez contributed a productive at-bat in the top of the sixth. With the bases loaded, he hit a run-scoring single. It was one at-bat that helped New Orleans get the win.
"We won," Sánchez told assembled media after the game. "I guess that's all that really matters."
The Looters now own a record of 26-21.
