Late Rally by Boccabellas Secures Win
|
The Pocatello Boccabellas turned back the Chicago Machine, 4-3, at Old Comiskey Park. Tomás Carranza was named player of the game for his fine performance. He was 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs. Bud Baldwin earned the win for Pocatello. He lasted 8 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 8 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 4-4. Jaime Espinoza recorded the save for Pocatello, his 14th of the season.
Had Glenn Vadnais not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Vadnais hit a 2-run double. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Boccabellas.
"I like what I saw today," said Pocatello manager Danny Lombardi, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
The Boccabellas are now 20-21, while the Machine fall to 18-25.
