The inspired effort of El Dorado third baseman Bob Johnson was not enough to prevent a 9-6 loss to the Maui Tropics. Johnson was 3 for 4 with a triple and a double. He scored 3 runs. Maui reliever Luis De Los Ángeles picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Mitch Brown shouldered the loss. César Rúbio earned the save for Maui, his 1st.

Matt Silver provided some late-game heroics for Maui. In the bottom of the eighth inning, he hit a run-scoring single. It came on a full count fastball from Mitch Brown and propelled Maui to a 7-6 lead.

"Everyone's trying too hard," said losing manager Chris Wilson. "If we learn to relax, we'll be fine."

The losses continue to mount for El Dorado, which has now dropped 6 in a row.
