The Austin River Sharks faced a tough opponent in Plymouth pitcher José Morán, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Play Rocks Field by a final score of 5-3. Morán went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Austin reliever José Salinas picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Soichiro Ikeda was saddled with the loss. Their 10-31 record puts the River Sharks last in the Continental League Central Division.

The most important at-bat for Austin came in the top of the 15th inning, when designated hitter Carlos Guzmán stroked a 1-0 changeup to right for a 2-run triple, putting Austin up, 5-3.

"It was our day today," Guzmán told the Austin News. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
