Stars Stay Hot With 5-1 Win
|
Anthony Erickson never let Kansas City get something going. The Springfield left-hander commanded his change up in pitching the Stars to a 5-1 win. The winning pitcher was Erickson, now 4-0. He tossed 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. Hyo-chin Ch'oe finished to wrap up his 2nd save.
In the bottom of the 6th, first baseman Elliott Newell gave Springfield the lead when he hit a grand slam home run. The Stars had been trailing 1-0, but the two-out home run off Kansas City pitcher Carlos Pacheco changed that -- and Springfield went on to win.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Erickson told the Springfield Times. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
Springfield has now won 9 in a row.
