Looters Turn Back Austin, 3-2
|
The New Orleans Looters got a strong performance from pitcher Chris Martin, who stymied the Austin offense en route to a 3-2 win at Greendale Community Field. Juan Méndez earned the save for New Orleans, his 8th of the year. The River Sharks, now 8-24, have lost 5 in a row.
New Orleans took a 3-0 lead on Arturo Sánchez's 38th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Sánchez hit in the top of the seventh, left Austin pitcher Troy Lynn visibly frustrated.
Despite the victory, Sánchez was prickly with assembled media after the game. He said only that he was "happy with the win."
