Stars Take Close Win Over River Sharks
|
There was no shortage of dramatics at Kekambas Park today.
The Springfield Stars beat the Austin River Sharks, 10-7, at Kekambas Park. Springfield left fielder Felipe Guerrero earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4. Springfield, now 23-5, is playing great baseball to start the year.
Guerrero had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the ninth. On a 2-1 slider from Josh Graham, he banged a grand slam home run to right, giving the Stars a 10-7 lead. It was the 9th home run of the year for Guerrero.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Stars manager León Gonzáles. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
