The Baffin Island Beavers trumped the Beech Mountain Mountaineers, 8-4, at Beaver Dam. Baffin Island designated hitter Ron Edwards was named player of the game for his performance. He went 1-1 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Brent Miller picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-3. Matthew Scott was tagged with the loss. The loss drops Beech Mountain to 12-15.
Edwards had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the ninth. On a 1-1 sinker from Matthew Scott, he banged a grand slam home run to right, giving the Beavers a 8-4 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Edwards.
"Feels good to get the job done," Edwards said after the game.
