Rockets Saddle Tropics with 5-2 Loss
|
The Nassau Rockets picked up a win at Rainbow Stadium, knocking off the Maui Tropics, 5-2. Starting pitcher Ron Bartlett, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Bartlett went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 2-1. Guan-cai Yong closed the game out for Nassau, earning his 6th save.
Bob Martin, who is tied for 6th in the NL with a .956 OPS, helped out the Nassau cause in the top of the seventh inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the third baseman was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We did a lot of things right," said Martin.
The loss drops Maui to 9-17.
