Márquez has 3 hit night to Pull G-Strings to .500
|
Nashville and Pocatello duked it out at Connie Mack Stadium and the G-Strings came out victorious.
The exploits of third baseman Sergio Márquez, who is tied for 10th in the CL in extra base hits with 8, helped the Nashville G-Strings defeat the Pocatello Boccabellas, 5-2. Márquez was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Bill Moore, the winner, improved to 1-1. He held the Boccabellas to 2 earned runs on 6 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 0 and walking 2. The save was credited to Johnathan Phillips, his 3rd.
Nashville grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Márquez, who is tied for 4th in the CL with a .450 on-base percentage, hit a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season put the G-Strings out in front, 3-1.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Nashville manager Luis García.
The loss drops Pocatello to 5-11.
