Mountaineers Get One-Run Win at Niagara Falls
|
The Beech Mountain Mountaineers defeated the Niagara Falls Frenzy, 5-4, in National League action at Edmund Fitzgerald Field. Miguel González received player of the game honors. The 13-year veteran was 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Matthew Scott finished the game for Beech Mountain and earned his 1st save. The loss drops Niagara Falls to 7-10.
González had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a full count fastball from Ed Jones, he banged a 2-run home run to center, giving the Mountaineers a 3-2 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for González.
"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said González.
