The Vista Panthers got a magnificent effort from pitcher Dale Reese, who kept Austin hitters in check en route to a 3-1 Panthers win at Stone Brewery Stadium. Reese went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 0, and struck out 6. His record improves to 12-5. David Simpson was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 32 of 35 save opportunities.
Chipping in for Vista was catcher Cisco Gatán. He stroked a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, Gatán went 1 for 4 with a home run.
"I like the roll we're on," said Vista manager Tim Fulgham.
