Mendelson goes 4-for-4 in Rebels Win
|
In a high-scoring contest between Boston and Kalamazoo, left fielder John Mendelson was a difference-maker. Mendelson, who is tied for 9th in the NL in triples with 6, earned player of the game honors in the 13-11 Boston win. He was 4-4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Boston reliever Jonathan Booker picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jason Simpson shouldered the loss. Tony Rocha picked up the save, his 18th.
Miguel Rivería did his part for the Rebels, producing a grand slam home run in the top of the fourth inning. For the game, the right fielder went 2-6 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once.
"Ugly win or not, we'll take it," said Rivería.
Boston now sits at 47-97, while Kalamazoo falls to 77-67.
