Big Day for Murphy as Browns Down Mountaineers, 16-10
|
The St. Louis Browns outscored the Beech Mountain Mountaineers, 16-10. Bill Murphy led the way, going 4-for-5 for St. Louis. Beau Brown picked up the save for St. Louis, his 4th of the year. The Browns improved to 75-66.
The Browns got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Clinton Clark. For the game, Clark was 1-2. In the top of the eighth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 57th hit of the season gave St. Louis a 11-10 lead.
Beech Mountain manager Doug Raymond expressed his frustration after the game: "That many runs and it wasn't enough?"
