García Shines in Rocks Win
|
The Plymouth Rocks knocked off the Nevada Noise, 11-6, at Branda's Palace. Roberto García, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Plymouth won. The second baseman went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 5. Dave Smeddon picked up the win, improving his season record to 14-9. He struck out 5 in 7 innings. The first-place Rocks have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
García provided the big break for the Rocks in the top of the fourth inning. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 3-run home run, helping Plymouth to get the win.
In comments to the Plymouth Herald, García admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
