Panthers Come Up Short at Pocatello
|
Pocatello starter Osvaldo Cruz had a strong outing against the Vista Panthers at Connie Mack Stadium. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 4-3 win. In 5 innings, Cruz surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Earning his 1st save for Pocatello was Mark Murchison.
The Boccabellas beat the Panthers in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out triple Héctor Rentería produced in the bottom of the fifth. Batting against Vista pitcher Randy Mailman, Rentería gave his team a 3-1 lead when he hit a 2-run triple.
"That's a solid team effort right there," said Rentería. "Everyone's feeling pretty positive after that win."
The Boccabellas are off to a tough start, getting just their 4th win in 12 games.
