Rocks Win at Kansas City, 3-2
|
Plymouth turned a good effort from starter José Martínez into a win over the Kansas City Kings at The Throne Room. The final score was 3-2. Martínez went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 0, and struck out 3. His record improves to 20-1. The first-place Rocks, at 82-36, now lead their division by 14½ games.
The Rocks beat the Kings in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Bob Smith produced in the top of the sixth. Batting against Kansas City pitcher Carlos Pacheco, Smith gave his team a 1-0 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Smith.
