The inspired effort of Austin shortstop José Liñares was not enough to prevent a 6-5 loss to the El Dorado Oilers. Liñares went 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. El Dorado reliever Ken Lyons picked up the win to move to 1-1. António Bueno suffered the loss. Kuang-yin Yue finished the game for El Dorado and earned his 4th save.
José Montoya was 1 for 2 for El Dorado. The 24-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jean Burrows. It was his 1st RBI of the season.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Montoya, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
With the win, El Dorado goes to 5-6.
