Frenzy Score Late, Stun Browns, 6-5
|
St. Louis got a terrific game from shortstop Carlos Alfaro. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Niagara Falls, 6-5. Alfaro was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Niagara Falls reliever Kimitada Takai was the winner. His record is now 1-0. António López took the loss. Ricardo Pérez was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
One important at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd in the top of the eighth inning. Facing St. Louis hurler Cristóbal Gómez, Jerry Johnston drew a walk. The Frenzy went on to win.
"Everyone's trying too hard," said losing manager Jeff Porter. "If we learn to relax, we'll be fine."
The Browns fall to 4-7 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2028 season.
