Browns Win at Nashville, 8-3
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the St. Louis Browns and Nashville G-Strings came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
The Nashville G-Strings got a superb performance from pitcher Arturo Leal. Still, it wasn't enough to beat St. Louis. The Browns won the game, 8-3. In spite of the loss, Leal was named the player of the game. He came in in relief and pitched to 19 batters . Alex Stanford was the winner. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, with 7 walks and 4 strikeouts.
It could have been a different outcome for St. Louis, had it not been for Clinton Clark, the former first round draft pick . Clark contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the second inning to put St. Louis up, 2-0.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Clark told the St. Louis Times.
St. Louis, at 59-51, sits in third place in the Continental League Eastern Division.
