Knights Snatch Late Win
|
New York and So Cal played a hard-fought contest at Jersey West at Staples Field.
New York overcame a superlative game from Juan González to beat So Cal, 3-2. The So Cal pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. Getting the save was Paco Ruíz, his 1st.
The most important at-bat for New York came in the top of the ninth inning, when third baseman Vic Langlois stroked a 1-1 changeup to right-center for a solo home run, putting New York up, 3-2.
Langlois told a New York Times reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
With the win over So Cal, the Knights improved to 41-65.
