G-Strings Losing Streak at 6 After Extra-Inning Loss to Stars
|
Fans who congregated at Gibson Guitar Park were treated to extra-inning drama.
Nashville got a terrific game from third baseman Sergio Márquez. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Springfield, 9-8. Márquez was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Luis Cortéz got credit for the win, improving to 4-0. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2 innings.
This game was not decided until Shane Hutchinson came to bat in the top of the tenth. With the bases loaded and two out, the Springfield designated hitter drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Stars took the lead, 9-8.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play ever better," said Springfield manager León Gonzáles.
The slumping G-Strings have lost 6 straight.
