Gang Green Walk It Off for 68th Win of Season
|
Irvine right fielder Buck Jones played a vital role in his team's 5-4 triumph over El Dorado. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for Irvine. The win was Raúl Saltines's in relief. His record improves to 4-3. Craig Draper took the loss for El Dorado. Irvine, now 68-34, holds first place in the National League Western Division.
The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With Irvine trailing 4-3, Jones hit a slider from Craig Draper for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Gang Green had a walk-off win.
"This place went bonkers at the end," Jones said.
