Boccabellas Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Rocks
|
The Pocatello Boccabellas topped the Plymouth Rocks, 3-1, in Continental League action at Connie Mack Stadium. The player of the game was Pocatello pitcher and Staten Island, New York native Bud Baldwin. Pocatello reliever Juan Álvarez picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Dave Smeddon was saddled with the loss. The Boccabellas sit in 4th place in the Continental League Western Division with a record of 53-48.
Pocatello took a 3-1 lead on Francisco Sandoval's 29th double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which Sandoval hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Plymouth pitcher Dave Smeddon visibly frustrated.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Pocatello manager Danny Lombardi said.
