The Chicago Machine scored a 3-2 win versus the Austin River Sharks at Old Comiskey Park. Chicago pitcher Horace Jacobs nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Víctor Reyes earned his 21st save in 25 tries. The 4th-place Machine now have a 4-game winning streak.
Chipping in for Chicago was right fielder Lee Townsend. He stroked a 2-run home run in the bottom of the second. For the game, Townsend was 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Townsend told the Chicago Citizen.
