The Maui Tropics topped the New York Knights, 6-3, in National League action at Roy Hobbs Memorial Ballpark. The player of the game was Maui pitcher and Elgin, Illinois native Ronald Cotton. Cotton got the win, improving to 7-8. He allowed 8 hits and walked 3 over 7 innings. Cotton allowed 3 earned runs. Earning his 1st save of the year was Yong-taek Yi.
Matt Silver drove in one run for Maui. In the top of the sixth, with the teams deadlocked, 3-3, Silver delivered for the Tropics. His run-scoring sacrifice fly put Maui on top, 4-3.
"I just trusted my stuff," said Cotton.
With the win, Maui goes to 35-64, while the Knights fall to 36-60.
