G-Strings Turn Back Beech Mountain, 5-4
|
Fans who came to Gibson Guitar Park watched the Nashville G-Strings and the Beech Mountain Mountaineers fight to the finish.
Beech Mountain center fielder Tony López was sensational. He went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 times, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Nashville beat the Mountaineers, 5-4. López was named the player of the game despite the loss. Junior Mateo closed it out for his 10th save.
Chipping in for Nashville was designated hitter António Ortega. He stroked a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, Ortega went 1 for 4 with a double.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Beech Mountain manager Doug Raymond.
Nashville, at 32-63, sits in last place in the Continental League Eastern Division.
