3B Tobías, Stars Destroy Bruins 14-2 to Force Game 7
|
The Springfield Stars and the So Cal Bruins will take the BSA Championship to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation today, the Stars beat the Bruins 14-2 at Jersey West at Staples Field to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Springfield third baseman Jesús Tobías was named player of the game in the win after he was 4-6 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4.
The Stars beat the Bruins in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out double Shane Hutchinson produced in the top of the first. Batting against So Cal pitcher Jerry Good, Hutchinson gave his team a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run double.
So Cal manager Jorge Rivera called the blowout loss "a real dud."
Game 7 is scheduled for Tuesday, November 7th, 2028 at Jersey West at Staples Field. The scheduled starters for the game are Kyu-pyeong Pak for Springfield and Alejandro Méndez for So Cal.
