Méndez Handcuffs Rocks, Bruins Seize 2-0 Advantage in League Championship
|
Alejandro Méndez pitched a gem to help the So Cal Bruins escape with a tight 2-1 victory over the Plymouth Rocks in a low-scoring League Championship contest today. The right-handed Méndez threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball in the win, just enough for the Bruins on a day when their offense dried up. So Cal now leads the best-of-7 series 2-0.
Plymouth could barely put a dent in Méndez. The right-hander tossed 103 pitches over 8 innings for the Bruins, allowing only 4 hits.
"We haven't stopped playing," Plymouth manager Jaime Torres said. "We didn't get this far to give up."
Game 3 is set to be played on Monday, October 23rd, 2028 at Jersey West at Staples Field. The scheduled starters for the game are Dave Smeddon for the Rocks and Alejandro Méndez for the Bruins.
